Spectacular natural beauty

Welcome to Europe’s highest major cave! At an altitude of 2,500 meters, the tour takes you nearly half a kilometer into the heart of the mountain. On a tour, you’ll discover stalactites, colorful marble, and crystals, and hear fascinating stories about the formation and discovery of the cave system, which has been explored over a length of 10 kilometers so far. The best way to reach the Spannagel Cave is via the lifts in Hintertux, 4 km away.

Stoankasern Mountain Cheese Dairy

At the Stoankasern Mountain Cheese Dairy, cheese is made from fresh ingredients using time-honored traditions. From June through the fall, you can watch the cheesemakers at work in the mornings and see how milk is transformed into delicious cheese specialties—and, of course, taste them too! The Stoankasern Mountain Cheese Dairy also serves as a snack bar, making it an excellent destination for a day trip. For the hike up to the Junsalm at 1,980 meters, you should plan about 2 hours from Juns—the view alone and the setting among pastures and alpine rose-covered slopes make the climb well worth it.

Tux Water

It is an impressive natural spectacle when the water carves its way down steep rock faces toward the valley—especially in Tux! At the Hintertux Glacier, you can admire the Schraubenfall and Kesselfall waterfalls, both of which are protected natural monuments and plunge into deep rock basins. You’ll enjoy perhaps the best views along the Waterfall Trail, which takes about two and a half hours to hike from Hintertux. By the way, you’re welcome to taste the water, as Tux water is of drinking water quality.
